General Terms and Conditions

Changes & Amendments

Clients may request changes to their booking, even after confirmation of the tour. However, this may incur additional costs, depending on the nature of the change.
SimienEcoTours reserves the right to modify itineraries due to operational needs, weather conditions, safety concerns or any event of force majeure, while ensuring equal standards and similar experiences.

Force Majeure

SimienEcoTours is not liable for events beyond its control, including but not limited to:

  • Political unrest
  • Natural disasters
  • Flight delays or cancellations
  • Health emergencies

In such cases, SimienEcoTours will make reasonable efforts to offer alternative arrangements or rescheduling where possible, while limiting any potential additional costs.

Travel Insurance

Clients are strongly advised to obtain comprehensive travel insurance covering:

  • Medical emergencies
  • Trip cancellation
  • Personal injuries
  • Emergency evacuation

SimienEcoTours is not responsible for costs incurred due to lack of insurance.

Health & Fitness

Clients are responsible for ensuring they have adequate physical fitness for traveling in Ethiopia. This is particularly important for sport activities, high-altitude destinations or locations with extreme weather conditions. Any medical conditions must be disclosed in advance.

Liability

Unfortunately, Public Liability Insurance policies are not available in Ethiopia. SimienEcoTours is not responsible for incurred costs and is not liable for:

  • Loss, damage, or theft of personal belongings
  • Injuries, delays, or disruptions caused by third-parties
  • Clients participate in tours and activities at their own risk. For certain activities SimienEcoTours reserves the right to sign with clients a letter of release of liability

Accommodation & Transport

Accommodation is subject to availability. In case of unexpected unavailability, alternative accommodation with similar standards will be provided.
Transport services can be arranged with reliable providers, but vehicle conditions may vary depending on location and infrastructure.

Clients’ Responsibilities

Clients are expected to:

  • Respect local cultures, traditions and laws
  • Follow instructions given by SimienEcoTours’ staff
  • Maintain respectful behaviour towards communities and the environment
  • Adhere to agreed schedules

Sustainability & Responsible Travel

SimienEcoTours is committed to responsible tourism and is happy to share recommendations for traveling responsibly in Ethiopia. 

We encourage our clients to:

  • Minimize environmental impact
  • Respect wildlife and natural habitats
  • Support local communities and traditions

Complaints & Claims

Any formal complaint must be reported immediately during the tour to allow us to resolve the situation promptly and find a remedy.
If unresolved, the complaint must be submitted in writing within 30 days after completion of the tour.

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. Any disputes shall be handled under Ethiopian jurisdiction.

Acceptance of Terms

By confirming a booking with SimienEcoTours, clients acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions.

Disclaimers for SimienEcoTours

While SimienEcoTours makes every effort to provide quality and on-time service, it does not guarantee its departure and arrival times, which may be delayed by any number of factors, including weather, traffic or road conditions, mechanical problems or any other cause or condition beyond SimienEcoTours' control. Ride the Rift reserves the right to cancel or change any tour, advertised schedule or route without notice.

While SimienEcoTours makes every effort to avoid any accident or theft, it assumes no liability or responsibility for injury, loss, or damage to persons or property, inconvenience, delay, or expense arising from or caused by weather conditions, acts of God, war, accident, government restrictions or regulations, from an act or omission of any individual, traffic or road conditions, mechanical problems or any other cause or condition beyond SimienEcoTours' control.

SimienEcoTours reserves the right, without refund of any portion of registration fee, to refuse admission to or eject any person whose conduct is disorderly, who uses vulgar or abusive language or fails to comply with the rules, terms and conditions applicable to passengers on the tour. If you witness disorderly conduct or suspect a problem with a fellow passenger please notify your SimienEcoTours tour guide or organizer.

By participating to our tours, you hereby consent to SimienEcoTours and its partners use of your voice, image or likeness incidental to any video and/or audio-recorded program or photograph of the tour for any and all purposes without compensation to you.
