Exploration of the Ethiopian Lakes by Kayak and Canoe

In the past, due to the lack of infrastructure and the presence of Bilharzias it was not possible to discover independently the lakes in the South.
Now we have the means to enter the lakes safely with our brand new kayaks and canoes. SimienEcoTours and Ecopia Ecotourism have the very first exploration team that you could join for an adventurous weekend on Lake Ziway.

Schedule and itinerary

Day 1, Friday: departure at 2 PM from Addis Ababa to Ziway, accommodation in the Haile Resort.
Day 2, Saturday: morning training and instructions, afternoon visit by boat a monastery on the island.
Day 3, Sunday: morning visit of hidden spots of the lake for wildlife and bird watching, afternoon return to Addis.


tot. 2 persons: 700 USD per person;
tot. 3-4 persons: 470 USD per person;
tot. 5-7 persons: 370 USD per person;
tot. 8-10 persons: 310 USD per person;
tot. 10-20 persons: 250 USD per person.

Requirements: Ability to swim.
Alternatively to Lake Ziway we can organize the tour to Lake Hawassa (extra).
Alternatively to the Resort there is the possibility to camp in the tent (discount).
Possibility of wine tasting and visiting the Castel vineyard (Rift Valley and Acacia wines).
