We firmly believe a good car with a careful driver is the most important issue on a tour, even more than the guide considered by most others as major point. If the tourists are not feeling safe in the car, it ruins their complete holiday (but a guide can't be that bad :-). From the driver's bravery your life depends.
Please note that car accidents are frequent in Ethiopia. Experts of the Addis Ababa Traffic Office confirm that the number of traffic road accidents in Ethiopia (unfortunately) is increasing every year. They state that the number of deaths was 3,331, severe injuries 6,039, and minor injuries 5,888 two years ago (Sep.2013-Aug.2014). However, last year's figure (Sep.2014-Aug.2015) reveal that there were 3,847 deaths, 5,634 severe injuries and 5,839 minor injuries.
This means that there are more than 10 deaths per day! But don't be too scared. There are too many irresponsible drivers and cars in very poor condition, while the cars operating in the tourism field are checked regularly by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
